A Nightlife Guide to Dublin

Dublin is a bustling city that offers a range of attractions and activities whatever time of day. But come nightfall, the city really lights up in an array of lively bars, pubs and clubs that offer a vibrant atmosphere, live music and delicious drinks. From traditional Irish pubs to swanky cocktail bars, there is plenty of nightlife to choose from for visitors who want to enjoy a few hours of revelry and fun in the Irish capital.

O’Neill’s Bar & Grill

One of Dublin’s most iconic pubs is O’Neill’s Bar & Grill which is popular both with locals and visitors alike. Established in the late 19th century, this classic establishment is now home to an impressive array of drinks including craft ales, beer and whiskies. On the weekends, it’s also a popular spot for live music, with DJs playing sets late into the night on Saturdays. O’Neill’s is a great place to go for anyone who wants to enjoy a traditional Irish pub atmosphere as well as tasty drinks and some dancing. My personal opinion is that this is one of the best pubs in Dublin – with its lively atmosphere, great selection of drinks, and delicious pub grub, O’Neill’s is a great place for anyone who wants to experience genuine Irish hospitality.

The Brazen Head

Another traditional Irish pub in Dublin is The Brazen Head which has been around since 1198 and is now one of the oldest pubs in Ireland. Housed in a beautiful building, this pub boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere serving classic drinks and beers with Irish hospitality. On nights when there isn’t live music playing, visitors can still enjoy authentic pub quizzes and book readings to keep them entertained. This pub is definitely worth a visit for anyone who wants to experience a bit of Irish culture and literature. In my opinion, The Brazen Head is one of the best pubs in town for an authentic Irish pub night although – like most traditional pubs – it lacks a bit of excitement for younger visitors.

The Cobblestone

This old-fashioned pub is located in Smithfield Square, Dublin’s oldest area, and is part of a lovelycomplex of buildings dating back to the 1850s. Referred to as Dublin’s “cultural hearth’, The Cobblestone pub offers daily live music which can range from acoustic guitars to fiddlers and drum circles. This cheerful meeting place also serves its customers traditional beer and whiskey on tap, as well as tasty food items cooked by expert chefs in a traditional open fire kitchen. The Cobblestone pub is always buzzing with visitors from all over the world who come here to experience traditional Irish music, culture and hospitality. I personally love The Cobblestone for its energetic atmosphere and delightful drinks menu.

The Workman’s Club

If you’re looking for a more modern club scene in Dublin then head over to The Workman’s Club. This cutting-edge club offers an upbeat space packed with neon lights, chic furniture, colourful artwork and a variety of craft beers and cocktails at the bar. It also hosts some great live music performances as well as DJs who spin tunes late into the night on Friday and Saturday nights. While it doesn’t have quite the same traditional vibe as some of dublin’s other pubs and clubs, The Workman’s Club is definitely worth a visit for anyone who wants to enjoy an upbeat night out in Dublin. Personally, I love The Workman’s Club for its modern décor, impressive sound system, fun atmosphere, and impressive selection of drinks.

The Snug Bar

Just around the corner from The Workman’s Club sits The Snug Bar which offers a comfortable yet

funky atmosphere housed in a charming building from the 18th century. A stylishly designed stone-built bar, The Snug Bar boasts an extensive range of craft beers, small batch whiskey and contemporary cocktails on their drinks menu with tasty food options to accompany them. Alongside its serious spirit selection, the bar also offers regular live music sets that vary from alternative rock to traditional Irish music. Whether you come here to enjoy live music or simply sip on an Irish whiskey while soaking up lively conversation and laughter, The Snug Bar is definitely worth visiting for anyone looking for a unique night out experience in Dublin. My personal opinion is that it’s definitely worth checking out The Snug Bar if you’re looking for an intimate but lively drinking spot with great live music and delicious drinks in Dublin.
