Breakfast Guide for Hawaii

Hawaii is famous for its majestic shores, tropical sunsets and its world-famous fruity drinks. But it’s not just the cocktails and the beaches that make Hawaii such a great holiday destination; the breakfast options in Hawaii are second to none, and you won’t be short on ideas of things to start your day with. Here is our guide to some of the best breakfast spots in Hawaii that you absolutely must try if you’re on the islands!

The Heavenly Island Café

The Heavenly Island Cafe is located in the heart of Hilo, Hawaii, and it’s a must-visit spot for anyone with an appetite for traditional Hawaiian breakfast dishes. The interior is quaintly decorated with lots of wicker and wooden furniture, giving the place a truly local feel. Hefty portions of both hot and cold items are served at this café, like akule (Hawaiian fishcake) and poi pancakes. In addition to the local dishes, you can also pick up healthy options like smoothie bowls, filling oatmeal pancakes, and egg-white omelettes. It’s also an extremely family-friendly place; parents can tuck into their breakfast while keeping an eye on their little ones in the enclosed playground. The Heavenly Island Café is perfect for anyone who wants to experience a traditional diash of Hawaiian hospitality while enjoying quality breakfast fare.

From a personal perspective, I think that the Heavenly Island Café should come highly recommended. Not only do they serve great tasting breakfast dishes, but they go out of their way to make sure that visitors feel welcome in their presence. For those looking for something different during their stay in HI, I absolutely recommend visiting the café at least once.

Kimo’s Breakfast & Lunch

Kimo’s Breakfast & Lunch is nestled in the charming wee village of Kailua-Kona and serves up some of the heartiest breakfasts in town. Their bountiful buffet has everything from freshly cut pineapple to Spam Omelets, as well as classic American breakfast items like pancakes and French toast. They also have a variety of smoothies, hot drinks, and freshly squeezed orange juice to pour over everything. Kimo’s Breakfast & Lunch will have you grinning from ear-to-ear; the staff here are always eager to welcome visitors and make sure that you have a great time while chowing down their grub.

Kimo’s should be a top spot on anyone’s list of places to eat when they are visiting the area. The diverse range of breakfast dishes ensures that even those with the pickiest of tastebuds will find something they will enjoy here, while the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere make it an easy place to relax while enjoying your meal. With reasonably priced dishes, Kimo’s is worth a visit even if it is just for the fun atmosphere.

Umeke Market & Café

Umeke Market & Café in Waikiki is a fantastic location for enjoying a breakfast with a view. This bright and airy café overlooks a picturesque lagoon, allowing diners to take in some amazing views while indulging in a hearty grilled or poached combination or perhaps some fresh mangoes and local fruits with coconut cream. Offering both savory and sweet dishes, there is something here to satisfy every palate. Even though they don’t serve hot drinks during breakfast, Umeke Market & Café does have freshly brewed Kona coffee and chilled beverages which go well with the other items on their menu.

In terms of personal opinion, Umeke Market & Café is a great place to go if you want something a bit different from your traditional breakfast. The tropical setting and views add an element of relaxation and romance to your morning, making it perfect for a romantic breakfast date or special occasion. I think Umeke Market is guaranteed to start your day off the right way!

Maui’s Newest Diner

If you’re exploring Maui, then you must make a beeline for Maui’s Newest Diner in Kihei. As you’d expect from the name, this retro-style diner has everything you need to fuel up for your day of adventures: classic American favorites such as fluffy omelettes and waffles drowning in syrup along with tasty items like the Portuguese bean soup with fishcake provide truly hearty meals that can satisfy any appetite. With its iconic neon sign, vintage art on the walls, and generous servings, Maui’s Newest Diner creates a classic diner atmosphere that will make you feel as if you’ve been transported back in time as soon as you step inside.

In my opinion, Maui’s Newest Diner is an absolute treat for breakfast lovers. Not only does this diner have an incredible atmosphere with its throwback style neon illumination and vintage look, but their food is truly amazing! Huge portions of classic breakfast favorites mean that no one will leave hungry – and all at affordable prices too! If I could only pick one place to recommend for breakfast on Maui – it would be Maui’s Newest Diner every single time.
