Getting out and exploring the city’s streets and charming neighbourhoods will often get you in touch with friendly locals, expats, and tourists alike. There are various areas around the city to mingle, and these bars, hotels, cafés and other attractions are great spots to meet other travellers and hear amazing stories of their travels. La Boqueria

My opinion: La Boqueria is a truly unique marketplace that offers visitors a taste of cultural Barcelona, while also giving young travellers the chance to meet like-minded people. I would definitely recommend it as one of the best places to seek out new connections in the city.

If you’re looking for a fun way to meet new people, then look no further than Papá Burger. Located on Carrer Ferran in the Born district of Barcelona, this burger bar has a casual atmosphere that makes it just the spot for meeting other travellers. The bar serves up some of the best burgers in Barcelona and the crowd that frequents this spot are always a fun bunch who are more than willing to chat to those looking for advice or just a friendly chat.

My opinion: Papá Burger is one of my favourite places to hang out in Barcelona. With its delicious food, affordable prices and relaxed atmosphere, this burger bar is one of the best places to meet fellow travellers while enjoying some great food and drinks.

Carrer de la Rambla

The Carrer de la Rambla is Barcelona’s most famous street and understandably so; it’s full of amazing cafés, bars and restaurants and it’s one of the most popular spots for meeting eager young travellers from around the world. Take a stroll down its busy streets or rent a bike and travel up and down at your own pace. Whatever you decide to do, you are sure to bump into some fellow adventurers at some point as you explore its many stops and take in the vibrant vibes of the city.

My opinion: Carrer de La Rambla is an incredible street that gives visitors an insight into Spanish culture and nightlife, while also providing the perfect opportunity to meet other travellers who are seeking adventure in Barcelona. I especially recommend discovering what’s on offer at its lovely restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat while chatting with those around you.

L’Itaca Hostel

L’Itaca Hostel is one of the city’s most renowned hostels and it is no wonder why. This hostel has been around for over 30 years and has gained a great reputation for being one of Barcelona’s best locations for meeting other travellers from around the world. Enjoy drinks out on its terrace, visit the bar near the front desk or lounge around in the common room—you’re sure to find yourself among warm conversation with exciting tales from across Europe or closer to home.

My opinion: I’m a big fan of L’Itaca Hostel—it has a great atmosphere and lively environment that makes it perfect for connecting with other like-minded travellers. The fact that it has been around for so many years speaks to its popularity—I’d definitely recommend it!

Catalaonia Barcelona Plaza

At Catalonia Barcelona Plaza, you will not only get to enjoy some amazing amenities such as its spa center and luxurious rooms, but you will also be able to meet all kinds of travellers here. This five-star hotel is actually home to an international community of expats, backpackers, businesspeople and tourists who be can provide some great advice on Barcelona’s top attractions or maybe just provide interesting conversation over dinner or drinks.

My opinion: Catalonia Barcelona Plaza is a great place for travellers who want to explore beyond Barcelona’s cultural attractions, with plenty of luxurious amenities on offer such as its fantastic spa center as well as plenty of places to enjoy great cuisine and drinks. It’s also home to an exciting international community of guests, so I’d recommend it if you’re looking to meet fellow travellers with whom you can exchange stories!
