How to meet other travellers in Málaga

Málaga is a vibrant city in the south of Spain. With thousands of visitors from all over the world, getting the opportunity to meet other travellers is a great way to explore this amazing city. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed evening out for dinner, a way to join in an outdoor activity, or something more interactive—like taking language classes—you have plenty of opportunities to get to know like-minded people during your stay. Here are some of the ways to meet other travellers in Málaga.

Bars and Nightlife

Málaga has a great selection of bars and clubs geared toward the traveller crowd. The Marbella club (The Marbella club) is a great place to start. It’s well known among the backpacker crowd and guarantees a great night out. There’s usually music playing, a dance floor and plenty of beer on offer. The place also hosts cocktail parties and different themed nights throughout the week. It’s open until late and the staff are super friendly and always willing to chat with newcomers.

Another good stop on the nightlife circuit is La Plazuela (Bar La Plazuela) in Centro Historico. This bar offers live music on certain nights, so you can have a drink and tap your toes along to Spanish flamenco or rock music. The bar has an old-school feel and the crowd is made up of a mix of locals and travellers. Don’t miss their signature cocktails either!

My personal opinion is that both bars are a great way to get to know locals and travellers alike. The Marbella club is lively and always packed, while La Plazuela has more of a relaxed feel and quieter music. Whichever you choose, you’re sure to find an opportunity to make friends in both venues.

Hostels

Hostels are a great place to meet new people when travelling and Málaga has many choices that offer packages which include city tours, excursions, and entertainment discounts.

Malaga Inn (Malaga Inn) is a centrally located hostel that offers plenty of activities for travellers to get involved in during their stay. They have movie nights, pub crawls, beach days and more. The hostel also organises spanish lessons so you can brush up on your language skills in an informal setting and get to know people from around the world at the same time.

The Traveller’s House Málaga (The Traveller’s House Málaga) is another great hostel in Málaga. It’s home to travellers from all over the world and offers special services like bike tours and picnics. There are often movie nights or parties with DJs playing, so you can chaperone one another while exploring the city’s nightlife and meeting fellow travellers along the way.

I personally prefer Malaga Inn. It’s well located, avails a variety of activities and is always full of travellers from around the world!

Tours

What better way to meet people than by taking part in an exciting shared activity? Málaga has plenty of companies that offer group tours around some of its most popular sights.

Tog Tours (Tog Tours) offers walking tours around several neighbourhoods in Málaga such as El Arenal, Huelin, El Rincón de la Victoria, and El Limonar. These walking tours offer interesting insights into the neighbourhoods’ street art/graffiti, history and architecture and also feature food specific tasting as well as traditional bars. Plus, they only take small groups of 8 people at a time, so there’s plenty of time for bonding with the folks you’re touring with!

Visitors interested in the outdoors can join the hiking tours offered by Crate Hikes (Crate Hikes). They have several packages available ranging from easy walks around beaches to more challenging hikes in mountain trails close to Málaga City – all guided by knowledgeable local guides!

I have personally taken part in Tog Tours’ walking tours around Málaga and it was an incredible experience! It’s a great way to explore the city while making new friends from all over the world.

Language Courses

Learning some Spanish while visiting Málaga is a great way to interact with locals, as well as meet other travellers who are also hoping to learn or improve their language skills. There are several reputable language schools in the city centre offering regular classes or special programmes focused on practical application such as business Spanish or medical Spanish.

Global Excellence Language School (Global Excellence Language School) is one of them, offering intensive Spanish courses with several levels of expertise; from exclusive weekend courses for complete beginners to individuals courses tailored to meet the specific needs of experienced students. The school also offers cultural activities such as tapas night tours and trips to nearby cities so you can explore alongside your classmates – all with the help of native teachers!

Inlingua School of Languages (Inlingua School of Languages) is another language school based in Málaga that provides language courses all year round for different levels of expertise, ranging from beginner classes up to advanced levels for professional programs or university studies preparation courses.

I’ve personally studied Spanish with Global Excellence Language School and can vouch for their top-notch professionalism! The classes are designed with utmost focus on each student’s skillset and goals which makes them really interesting – plus you get to meet lots of people from all over the world while learning at the same time!

Conclusion

These are just some of the many ways you can meet other travellers during your visit to Málaga – but regardless of where you decide to hang out or even what language course you pursue learning – making the effort to get out there will undoubtedly make your stay in this amazing city a memorable one!
