How to Meet Other Travellers in Nice

Thanks to its beautiful beaches and stunning natural scenery, Nice on France’s southeastern coast is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Whether you are an avid admirer of art galleries, want to sample local delicacies or follow some of the area’s festivals – Nice has something for everyone. To top it all, many other travellers visit the city, making it a great place to meet kindred spirits. Here are 5 places we think you must go if you want to meet other travellers in Nice!

The Garden Beach

Located at the west end of the Promenade des Anglais, the Garden Beach is one of the most visited beaches in Nice. The beach has a lively atmosphere as you can find many visitors, locals and visitors alike, on it during the summer months. There is also sand volleyball, diverse music and people relaxing in deckchairs listening to their music. A great spot to meet people and share conversations while feeling the Mediterranean sun. Check out Garden Beach for more details.

It is true that in summer Garden Beach can be overcrowded and thus it’s not very comfortable for socializing or making connections, but still, it is a great place for getting inspired and meeting people who also enjoy the sun. Personally, I am always surprised by how many travellers are in this location during summer season and I’m sure that you can find friends here.

The Vieux-Nice Area

The old town of Nice, known as Vieux-Nice, is the newest addition to the city’s tourism attractions. Vieux-Nice is filled with typical French restaurants and cafes; some with terraces facing out over the street and a bustling market, full of local delights. The walls in Vieux-Nice preserve much of the city’s old-world charm with the colourful buildings and crowded alleyways. This is a great place to hang out and maybe making some French acquaintances or even meeting other visitors from all around the world.

No matter what time of year you visit, Vieux-Nice still offers beautiful old-world charm and romance that will leave you enchanted. It isn’t as packed as other spots, so it’s a great place to take a stroll, appreciate the views, have a seat in a street café and get lost in conversation. In my personal opinion, a must-visit location during my stay in Nice!

The Nuits Sonores Music Festival

The Nuits Sonores Music Festival is one of Europe’s main electronic music festivals and takes place in mid-May in the heart of Nice. The festival celebrates electronic music and its artists from around the world, providing an amazing ambiance both day and night. The grounds go from urban spaces to open fields surrounded by numerous trees and breathtaking views. From Techno to House, Trance and many other underground styles of music – it’s here for you to explore. You can put together your own team of people or find like-minded friends in the crowd!

If you are looking for an interesting way to meet new people who share your passion for alternative music, then this is the place for you! People come from ALL over the world for this festival, so you really have no excuse not to be part of this unique summer celebration! Last year I attended it myself and I would say that it was a great experience meeting many other people with different backgrounds who truly appreciate this genre of music.

The AppART hostel

The hostel was designed by renowned architect Christian Lafont and provides accommodation to backpackers and visitors who want to explore the city of Nice. The hostel combines both art and history with contemporary comfort to create an enjoyable cultural experience while giving travellers a chance to stay in a lively part of town. It also offers Wi-Fi, free use of computers, kitchen facilities, double rooms (some with terraces) and enough communal spaces for socialising with others. It serves as an ideal place for people who are travelling solo or looking for a new adventure!

This is a great spot for meeting other travellers from all around Europe. I strongly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a hostel that also allows you to socialize with other visitors from many different parts of the world! Check out Fassmore Hostel for more information about AppART Hostel.

Artazur

Artazur is an exhibition center located in Port de Nice near the Promenade des Anglais. With its exciting exhibitions and installations, interactive projections, projection mapping experiences and more – it’s sure to keep you mesmerized while also having a great time! There are often plenty other travellers admiring art installations – so it’s a great way to meet like-minded people while exploring this fantastic venue. It’s certainly worth visiting if you want to experience something a bit different – and you never know who you might end up chatting with!

If you love art, this is definitely one of those places where you should come and see at least one exhibition during your stay in Nice! You don’t even have to travel locally as Artazur often offers collaborations with international artists from many different countries – which make it even more interesting! Most importantly – I’m sure you will find people who share your passion here (including me!).

Conclusion

It goes without saying that Nice is one of the best cities to meet fellow travellers from around the world. Whether it’s viewing street art performances at Artazur or going clubbing at Nuits Sonores – there are plenty of spots where you can mix in with like-minded people and make some new friends while experiencing this beautiful city! Go forth and explore who else may be visiting Nice – we guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!
