How to Meet Other Travellers in Wroclaw

Wroclaw, situated in the western region of Poland, is a beautiful city with a rich history. From its colourful squares, to dark and fascinating streets, this city has it all. Whether you’re looking for a place to sightsee and take in some history, or you’re planning on more active activities with friends, there’s something for everyone in Wroclaw. However, if you’re looking to meet other travellers in this great city, and make new friends, then there are plenty of ways to do just that. In this guide, we’ll explore the best places to meet other travellers and locals in Wroclaw.

1) Go on a Bike Tour

One of the best ways to explore Wroclaw is by bike, and taking a bike tour is a great way to meet others who love to just see the places that the city has to offer. We Love Wroclaw is one of the best known bike tour companies in the city, and many of the tours are attended by both travellers and locals alike. With the help of one of their friendly and knowledgeable guides, you’ll get to explore some of the coolest off-the-beaten-path places around town; it’s also a great way to bond with fellow riders as you take your breaks for snacks on the journey. On their two-hour city tour which is full of sightseeing, jokes and facts about the city, you’re 88% likely to meet some new people.

My opinion: Although I’m not a fan of bike tours personally, I can see the merit in joining one if you’re looking to meet others in Wroclaw. You don’t have to be particularly fit or experienced – the tours are designed so beginners can join in – and you get to see some of the hidden nooks and crannies of the city!

2) Visit Hangout Hostel

Hostels are perhaps one of the best places to meet other travellers when you’re abroad, and Hangout Hostel in Wroclaw definitely holds true to this. Located conveniently close to all the main attractions (ie. The Market Square), Hangout Hostel is a great place to come and chill out after a long day of sightseeing. With a fully stocked bar, plenty of games (foosball table!)and two common rooms for everyone to sit down and share stories, it makes for an excellent meeting spot for travellers from all around. Best of all; over their two day itinerary, there’s always someone keen for a beer!

My opinion: Hangout Hostel is one of my favourite hostels around Europe – it’s underrated yet boasts an awesome atmosphere and lots of amenities. Plus, there’s always someone up for a beer or game when you come back from your day’s sightseeing or adventures. Definitely recommended!

3) Visit the City’s Main Squares

Wroclaw’s many squares are some of its main attractions – they are full of bars, restaurants, monuments and people here to have a good time. Some of the best known squares include Rynek (the main square), Solny (the Salt Square), and Podwale (the Courtyard). At these bustling places, there’s always someone wanting to chat or just have a beer with you – it’s also a great place to pick up some tips on what to do in the area from locals, who know much more about the area than most guidebooks!

My opinion: If you want to experience Wroclaw like a local then visiting one (or more) of its main squares is definitely recommended. You can explore monuments dotted around them, grab some food at local eateries or just sit down with a beer and watch people go by – it’s one of the best places to people-watch (just don’t forget to stay safe!).

4) Visit Clubs For a Night Out

On weekend nights, a visit to one of Wroclaw’s many cool clubs can be just what you need if you want to meet up with both travellers and locals alike. Whether it’s electro music your thing or underground rock music ticks all your boxes, there’s sure to be something that fits your taste. Księży Młyn Pub-Club is a great place for rock fans – think beer pong tables, good tunes and real music connoisseurs; “Budziwój” Club is the place for rock-and-rollers; and Prozak 2.0 is the go-to place for more modern music enthusiasts.

My opinion: Clubs are one of my favourite things in Wroclaw – there’s always plenty of dancing, fun conversations, music and drinks to keep everyone entertained late into night. Each club has its own style, so make sure you pick one that suits your taste!

5) Join an Event at Wroclaw Tech Hub

For tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs that are interested in meeting fellow creative minds, the Wroclaw Tech Hub is the place to go. They host regular events like networking lunches, hackathons and even coding bootcamps; all of which are open for everyone to join and meet people that love all things tech. It may not sound like the most exciting place to meet people – but as one who has attended their events as well as hosted once – I can say that it’s surprisingly fun and highly educational!

My opinion: Wroclaw Tech Hub events are an excellent place for travellers and locals alike who take technology seriously. If this sounds like your cup of tea then don’t hesitate – grab some tickets and book yourself in!

So there we have it – five great ways to meet other travellers in Wroclaw. Whether you’re interested in bike tours, hostels or clubs – there is something for everyone here! Plus, there are plenty of other activities that you can do while in town; why not take advantage of all that this great city has to offer?
