The tour offers the following inclusions:

Meeting and Pickup

The tour offers flexibility regarding pickup points, and the client can choose from various pickup points. You can set drop-off points other than the starting point. Pickup points are selected depending on the client’s preference, but the tour operators offer their suggestion. The tour’s starting time is dependent on the client’s itinerary that can vary based on the availability of lift and permits.

What to Expect

This section will provide all the details that you can expect from the 5-days volcano hiking tour at Mount Sabinyo:

Day 1 –

Welcome and transfer to the hotel located in the city of Kigali. You will get a chance to visit the Kigali genocide memorial site at an additional cost.

Day 2 –

Transfer from Kigali to Mount Sabinyo in the morning, with a stopover at Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa. After lunch, you will go for a walk in the historic Batwa pygmy village. Meals and overnight rest will be within the outskirts of the national park.

Day 3 –

Morning breakfast, and then you’ll hike the Mount Sabinyo volcano. The mountain is at 3,645m above sea level and has a steep climb that requires ample time and stamina. It’s a thrilling adventure but offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Meals and overnight rest will be within the outskirts of the national park.

Day 4 –

Morning breakfast at the lodge, and then you’ll visit Mount Gahinga, which can be seen from the backyard of the lodge. Gahinga is a small volcano at 3,474m above sea level. After lunch, you’ll transfer to Kisoro town, where you’ll have an overnight stay at a booked lodge.

Day 5 –

Morning breakfast, and then you’ll hike the highest volcano, Mount Muhabura to the summit (4,127 meters above sea level). Mount Muhabura is considered the hardest of the three mountains to climb, mainly because of the steepness of the climb. After the trek, you’ll transfer back to Kigali for a drop off at a location of your choice.
