Full Description

Day 1:
Start your tour at 10:30 in the morning, with a drive out to the Uyuni Salt Flats, known locally as Salar de Uyuni. The first stop is the haunting “Train Graveyard”, which is found on the outskirts of Uyuni. This is a fascinating place to explore, with old trains rusting away in the dry desert air.

Next, you will visit the small settlement of Colchani, where salt miners’ workshops can be found next to the salt flats. Here, you can see handmade crafts made from salt and textiles manufactured from llama and alpaca wool. You can pick up unique souvenirs to bring back home.

After this, you will continue on to the Uyuni Salt Flats themselves. You will see saltwater eyes, which are natural water sources found within the salt flats. You’ll also visit a hotel that is made entirely out of salt, that currently serves as a museum. You can see the flags of the world where you can bring your own flag to put there for free. Lastly, you will see the Monument of Dakar racing.

Lunch will be served in a scenic spot near Isla Incahuasi, also known as Fish Island. After this, you can take a hike to the top of the island and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

You’ll then proceed to the Villamar Salt Flats, where you can see the red lagoon, which is home to flocks of flamingos. This is one of the most iconic sights in South America, and a truly unforgettable experience. You’ll then head back to your accommodation in Villamar for dinner and rest.

Day 2:
On the second day, you will have the opportunity to explore the desert landscapes around Villamar. This includes the Dali Desert, which is named after the famous painter Salvador Dali. Here, you can see surreal rock formations and mountains that seem to defy gravity. You will also visit the Green Lagoon, which is located at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano. This stunning emerald green lagoon is a sight to behold.

After lunch, you will visit the Sol de Mañana geysers, which are located at an altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level. These are some of the highest geysers in the world, and the sights and sounds of the bubbling, steaming water are unlike anything else.

You will then retire to your accommodation in Huayllajara for dinner and rest.

Day 3:
On the final day of the tour, you will visit the Laguna Colorada, where you’ll see flocks of flamingos in their natural habitat. This is one of the most beautiful lagoons in South America, with its deep red colour and unique geology. You’ll then return to Uyuni in the evening, where the tour will end.
