Nightlife in Banbridge
Banbridge, just a short drive or train ride away from Belfast, is a great destination for a night out. With plenty of pubs, clubs and takeaway restaurants, Banbridge offers something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a quiet drink in a traditional pub, a lively night out in one of the major clubs or just a late night bite to eat, Banbridge has it all! In this guide, we’ll be exploring the best places to go in Banbridge for a night out.
The Pot Still Bar
The Pot Still Bar is a lively pub located in the heart of Banbridge. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet drink and an evening of good craic. It offers a great selection of ales, lagers, stouts and ciders. The Pot Still Bar also serves some delicious food such as beef chilli and chips, pizzas and sizzling fajitas all made with the finest local ingredients. It also offers a selection of traditional Irish dishes such as Irish stew, potato pancakes and colcannon. The atmosphere at The Pot Still Bar is always welcoming and friendly so you’ll feel right at home. My personal opinion would be that it is one of the best pubs in the Banbridge area and is a great place to visit for some relaxed drinks with friends.
The Sterling Hotel & Pub
The Sterling Hotel & Pub is located just outside of the town centre and is quickly becoming one of the most popular venues in Banbridge. The pub boasts a great selection of beers, wines and spirits, as well as some excellent food. From traditional pub grub to daily specials, there’s something for everyone at The Sterling Hotel & Pub. The pub also boasts one of the best entertainment programs in the area with live music every Friday & Saturday night, karaoke every Thursday and quizzes three times a week. The atmosphere at The Sterling Hotel & Pub is always buzzing with locals and visitors alike enjoying their night out. It’s personally one of my favourite places to go for a few drinks and I would highly recommend it.
Carlo’s Takeaway Restaurant
If you’re looking for a late-night bite after your night out in Banbridge then Carlo’s Takeaway Restaurant is the place to visit. Carlo’s is a family-run business that serves up fantastic Italian food at great prices. The menu includes classic Italian dishes such as lasagne, pizza, garlic bread and spaghetti carbonara as well as some delicious desserts like their homemade ice-creams. The food is always freshly cooked and tastes brilliant, especially when paired with a cheeky glass of wine! Carlo’s is the perfect spot for a late-night snack and I can personally vouch for the quality of the food here.
McCooey’s Bar
McCooey’s Bar is located right in the middle of Banbridge town centre and is another popular spot with locals and tourists alike. McCooey’s offers excellent drinks promotions as well as a range of classic pub food such as burgers, sandwiches and their signature McCooey’s stack (a cheese & bacon stack sandwich). McCooey’s is also well known for its lively atmosphere over the weekend with weekly dj sets and monthly live music events. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for a fun night out with your friends. My opinion would be that although I would go there for the drinks promotions there are better places for food and atmosphere.
The Bruckless House
The Bruckless House is a family-run restaurant located close to Banbridge town centre that offers excellent fine-dining cuisine. The Bruckless House prides itself on using only the freshest ingredients to create dishes such as pan-seared duck breast, beef stew, seafood chowder and their signature Bruckless steak sandwich. They also offer an excellent range of Irish whiskeys and regional wines to enhance your meal. The real highlight of this place though is the superb atmosphere created by the friendly staff and intimate dining setting. I was lucky enough to experience this on my visit here and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Banbridge looking for somewhere stylish to have dinner.
Club Banbridge
Club Banbridge is one of the most popular nightclubs in town and attracts visitors from far and wide with its energetic atmosphere and top-class dj sets. Club Banbridge hosts several weekly events such as their classic Mardi Gras party night on a Friday as well as live music events throughout the week. The club also offers special deals on arrival for drinks so you won’t have to break the bank when you take a night out here. My personal opinion on Club Banbridge would be that it’s great for clubbing but if what you’re after is good drinks and atmosphere then there are better places to go in Banbridge.
Brownlow Arms
The Brownlow Arms is one of the oldest pubs in Banbridge but don’t let that put you off, as this place has more to offer than meets the eye! The Brownlow Arms offers everything from classic pub grub to light snacks & meals, all at very reasonable prices. In addition to this, they also offer live music & entertainment throughout the week and feature DJ sets on Thursdays & Fridays too! It’s also important to note that Brownlow Arms offers pizzas after 10 pm, ideal for when you’ve had one too many drinks! In my opinion, it’s an excellent option in Banbridge if you’re looking for an old-fashioned pub experience with plenty of features to keep you interested.
McGoverns Lough Inn
McGoverns Lough Inn is located just outside of Banbridge and has been serving up fantastic drinks, food and craic since 1740! The pub offers regular live music events as well as traditional Irish music every Friday night for those feeling especially festive! Their beer garden also makes for an ideal spot on warm summer evenings, or afternoons if you’re having an easy day! The atmosphere at McGoverns Lough Inn is always friendly having been run by the same family since its opening centuries ago they know how to make visitors feel welcome. In my opinion this is an excellent spot to have some traditional Irish craic and make some new friends along the way!
