Punta del Este is a city on the southeastern coast of Uruguay, located near the Rio de la Plata and 75 kilometers east of Montevideo. Some of the most well-known and largest of these events include the Brava Beach Party at La Brava Beach on Thursdays, Manguera Beach Party at La Mangueras Beach on Fridays, and UY Music at Playa Mansa on Saturdays.
Uruguay’s Summer Festival
During the summertime, Punta del Este plays host to Uruguay’s biggest festival of the year – La Fiestas de la Patria Gaucha (the Gaucho Festival). The festival lasts five days, beginning on January 15th, and ends on January 19th every year when Uruguayans recognize the country’s independence from Brazil in 1828. Events such as folk music and dance performances, parades, rodeos, and gaucho games make it a highlight of the busy summer season.
