McDonough’s Irish Pub

McDonough’s Irish Pub is a favorite spot among locals and visitors alike. Located in the heart of Savannah’s historic district, McDonough’s offers a laid-back atmosphere, with plenty of room for gathering. Their pub grub, beer, and wine selections are very popular, and there is often live music or weekly events to enjoy. With its rich history and inviting atmosphere, McDonough’s is an excellent place to start or end your pub crawl. McDonough’s Irish Pub is a great option for those looking for a memorable, traditional Irish experience.

My opinion: I’ve been to McDonough’s Irish Pub several times and I absolutely love it. Everything from the ambiance to the wide selection of drinks make it perfect for a great night out with friends. Their food menu is filled with classic Irish fare, and their staff is welcoming and attentive. If you’re looking for an idyllic pub experience, McDonough’s Irish Pub should be at the top of your list.

Tequila Bay Bar & Grill

Tequila Bay Bar & Grill serves up Mexican cuisine with a Mediterranean twist. Located on an inlet near City Market and Ellis Square, this spot is as hip and happening as any in Savannah. With its famous margaritas, daiquiris, wings, and tacos, Tequila Bay Bar & Grill has something for everyone. On the weekends, Tequila Bay has DJs spinning everything from salsa to rap. It’s one of the liveliest stops on your pub crawl, with lots of room to party and mingle until the wee hours. Tequila Bay Bar & Grill also offers late-night tacos for when your evening evolves beyond “bar time”.

My opinion: Tequila Bay Bar & grilled is definitely one of my favorites spots in Savannah. Whether I’m out with friends or just meeting someone up for drinks after work, they always have great drinks and friendly staff. I’m huge fan of their house margaritas and the tacos are always so good! Additionally, the DJ on the weekends really spices up the evening and makes it feel like you’re at some party! I highly recommend Tequila Bay Bar & Grill if you’re looking for a fun night out.

The Rail Pub

The Rail Pub is a cozy spot tucked away near the City Market area of downtown Savannah. It features 10 rotating craft beers on tap, plus some great pub grub classics like burgers, fish and chips, wings, flatbread pizzas, and more. During the week, The Rail Pub hosts live trivia nights, open mic nights, karaoke nights, and more. On the weekends many local bands take over The Rail Pub for performances that are sure to get you dancing. The Rail Pub is also conveniently located near quieter spots like Ellis Square if you need to take a breather from the music and action before hitting the next stop on your pub crawl.

My opinion: I have so many great memories from The Rail Pub! No matter what day you go there’s always something fun going on – live bands are always playing on the weekends and the open mic nights are always so much fun (especially when you get so many talented people taking over!). Their craft beer selection is wonderful and always expanding so there’s always something new to try every time I visit. Plus there’s also an awesome patio to enjoy during the warmer months! If you’re looking for a cozy but lively spot to enjoy some drinks, The Rail Pub should be your next stop!

The Pirate’s House

Experience high-seas revelry at The Pirate’s House in Savannah! Located near Lafayette Square in downtown Savannah since 1753, The Pirate’s House has been a popular port of call for pirates, sailors, and visitors to the city for centuries. The restaurant has become known for its amazing dinner theater performances set in a beautiful courtyard full of pirate-inspired decor and props. Visitors can also enjoy nightly live music and a variety of drinks from The Pirate’s rum bar, if they’re feeling brave enough. The Pirate’s House brings wild tales of high-seas adventure right to you right there in historic downtown Savannah!

My opinion: The Pirate’s House has been a favorite bar of mine since my first visit to Savannah! As soon as you enter the building you can feel the atmosphere coming alive with pirate-themed décor everywhere – giving guests a genuine pirate experience without setting foot on a boat! They also have amazing dinner theater shows that can transport you back in time as you watch actors portray unique pirate scenes – plus their drinks are really good as well! It’s definitely a must-stop spot on my next trip to Savannah and I highly recommend checking it out if you’re looking for immersive entertainment and delicious drinks.

Johnny Harris Restaurant & Lounge

Rounding off our list this hometown favorite since 1923. Established by John Harris Sr. after moving from the south Georgia coast to Savannah, Johnny Harris Restaurant & Lounge has become a local staple among city dwellers and visitors alike. The lounge serves up classic southern dishes like shrimp & grits, macaroni & cheese, low country boil, fish tacos, shrimp tacos…the list goes on! As well as a variety of craft beer and wines plus specialty cocktails and martinis. Johnny Harris Restaurant & Lounge also has plenty of space for groups both inside and outside – including a patio overlooking Lake Mayer if you’re looking for a breath of fresh air during your pub crawl. A relaxing lounge atmosphere awaits at Johnny Harris Restaurant & Lounge.

My opinion: Johnny Harris Restaurant & Lounge is my absolute favorite place to visit in Savannah! Known as one of the most iconic restaurants in town – the family-run business has been around since 1923 – it always feels like home when I’m there. Their outdoor patio is so beautiful – you really get most of the atmosphere and beauty that Savannah has to offer all in one spot! Plus they have great southern dishes (just get the macaroni & cheese – you won’t regret it!) as well as craft beer and wine selections. If you’re looking for a unique way to end your pub crawl – Johnny Harris Restaurant & Lounge is definitely worth checking out!

Now that you know the very best places to stop on your Savannah pub crawl adventure, all that’s left to do is throw on your favorite pair of walking shoes…or pirate boots over your favorite drinking apparel and make sure you drink (and dance) responsibly as you traverse this legendary city!
