Krakow: How to Meet Other Travellers

Krakow is an incredibly popular tourist destination for travellers from all over the world. It has incredible architecture, amazing nightlife, and deep cultural roots throughout its streets. But when you’re attempting to meet other travellers, where can you go? In this guide, we’ll explore some of the best ways to find fellow adventurers in Krakow.

Hostels

One great place to start looking is at Krakow’s numerous hostels. Hostels are a great way to meet a variety of people in a great setting. Particularly in Krakow, there are many hostels that cater to backpackers and other keen adventurers. Popular hostels in Krakow include Mundo Hostel, The Bee Hive, Greg&Greg Hostel, and Dizzy Daisy Hostel. Hostel lobbies are also a great place to meet people and get recommendations for what to explore in the city.

Mundo Hostel is one of the most well-known hostels in Krakow and is actually rated number one on Hostelworld by their customers. The brightly colored rooms give moods a lift while they can also enjoy free Wi-Fi and free breakfast in the morning. There is also a bar-café located in the lobby which adds a great social atmosphere to the building. From my own experience, I would recommend Mundo Hostel for anyone looking for a lively place to meet other travellers in Krakow.

Cafés

The café scene in Krakow is booming and there are tons of great places to grab a cup of coffee or a bite of food and maybe even meet some likeminded people. One of the most popular café’s in Krakow is Soul Cafe Krakow. This café is known for its amazing organic food options and its relaxed atmosphere, making it a great place to sit back and chat with someone new. My own experience here was really enjoyable and the staff were super friendly and welcoming — I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a great café vibe!

Pubs & Bars

Krakow also has an amazing nightlife scene and pubs and bars are some of the best places to meet other people. Alchemia Bar, located near the main square, is a great spot to start your night off right as it has great music, quality drinks, and a fun atmosphere. Many locals come here regularly, so it’s always guaranteed to be busy and welcoming. Most importantly, it provides a fantastic space for making new friends.

If you’re looking for something more chill and relaxing, I would recommend Zapiecek Jazz Bar instead. This bar isn’t widely known by tourists but it still attracts many people from all over the world with its laid back atmosphere, incredible live jazz music, and delicious offerings from the bar menu. I personally have only good things to say about Zapiecek Jazz Bar so I would definitely recommend giving it a go!

Shared Experiences

If you’re looking for an experience that takes you off the beaten path in Krakow, why not join a tour or activity that offers a unique, shared adventure? There are lots of these kinds of experiences offered in Krakow such as Escape Room Games at Cracow Escape Game, Bicycle Tour with Krakow Bike Tours, Traditional Polish Cooking classes with Boileo, or Street Art Tour with Street Art Krakow Tours. Joining any of these activities is sure to give you chance to mix with other travellers in the same situation as you — many of whom are likely feel like exploring the city just like you do!

I’ve personally taken the Escape Room Game at Cracow Escape Game before and it was an incredible experience! The puzzles were challenging but at the same time a lot of fun and it was great getting to bond with people over trying to escape together — I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for some interactive fun here in Krakow!

Bars & Clubs That Specialize in International Music

Music is always a great way to connect with people and many bars and clubs here in Krakow specialize in more international music styles as opposed to standard Polish hits (which are also great). Dance clubs such as Ebonton Club, which plays an amazing mix of electro, hip hop, and reggae music; or the new underground Techno Club Mazaali + Liquid Room that plays music from some of the hottest DJs from around Europe are both great spots for having a good time and meeting some likeminded people whilst dancing away the night!

My own personal experience has been really great at both of these clubs and I would definitely recommend them if you’re in search of some international music beats here in Krakow!

Enjoy Music Festivals

If you happen to be in Krakow during one of its amazing music festivals such as the Tauron Nowa Muzyka Festival, the Jazz Festival, or Off Festival Katowice, then make sure to take advantage — these events offer great opportunities for meeting other FREEQUENT travellers as well as being surrounded by amazing music! Plus you never know who you might bump into — famous artists have been known to show up here unexpectedly so it’s always worth keeping an eye out!

I didn’t actually have the chance to find out first hand what these festivals are like — but I certainly plan on trying one out this upcoming summer so watch this space!

Social Networks & Apps

Meeting other travellers doesn’t have to be so linear — there are tons of online platforms for connecting with likeminded people that reside in or near Krakow. Two incredibly popular websites for this purpose are Meetup and Travello. These are both mobile apps that allow you to find people that share your interests and chat with them in realtime — making it incredibly easy to find someone who you can connect with before actually meeting up with them!

My own experience using both of these apps has been really positive — before coming to Krakow I connected with lots of locals who have been able to provide me with advice on where to go and what to see as well as even show me around personally when I arrived! If you’re feeling shy but still want to get out there and expand your social circle then these apps are definitely worth checking out!

Conclusion

Krakow is a vibrant and exciting city that offers so many incredible opportunities for meeting other travellers and having fun! Whether it be in one of its famous hostels or bars, cafes or shared experiences, or even through social networks and apps — there are plenty of ways to connect with people from every part of the world here in Krakow! My own experience has been really positive and I can’t wait for my next visit so I can explore even further — safe travels everyone!
